The EFT Program at Carizon Family and Community Services
In this workshop, Linda Stearns and Rachel Brnjas will discuss the journey that led Carizon (a non-profit organization in Waterloo Region) to begin an EFT program just over three years ago. Since this work focuses on teaching children, youth and their families how to tap, you’ll hear some stories, strategies and approaches we’ve learned over the years as we’ve worked with this population. Linda and Rachel will also discuss Carizon’s recent partnership with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board to bring EFT to grade 5 classes, in hopes of reducing anxiety in students. They will discuss the research they’ve been doing throughout all this work to better understand the impact of EFT on the healing and well-being of children and youth.
Linda Stearns, RECE, RT, Advanced EFT Practitioner
Linda has worked with children for over 35 years in the Region of Waterloo. She worked exclusively for 19 years in the field of Early Childhood Education before continuing her formal education and becoming a Resource Consultant with kidsLINK in their Preschool Support Services Program, as well as a Resource Teacher at Grand River Hospital. She continues working in children’s mental health, supporting families and children in their homes and at school with Carizon Family and Community Services in Waterloo Ontario. Linda enjoys working with students teaching EFT to grade 5 students and teachers in the Waterloo Separate School Board. In this role she has the privilege of consulting with educators to increase their understanding of students who are struggling with emotional and behavioural concerns.
Rachel Brnjas, M.S.W.
Rachel Brnjas has a Master’s of Social Work and is a CAPC Parent Education Facilitator & Emotional Freedom Technique Facilitator at Carizon Family and Community Services in Waterloo Ontario. She is currently becoming Accredited with Susan Bushell EFT Master Trainer with AAMET as an EFT Practitioner and plans to continue her work at Carizon working with children.
